Answer
the following questions in regards to the reading
1. Why
did the South not get help from Britain like they expected?
2. What
did the Emancipation Proclamation do?
3. How
did Lincoln justify freeing the slaves if he felt the government didn’t have
the power to end it? (and please don’t tell me because he felt slavery was bad
or something made up)
4. It
says, “Emancipation was not just a moral issue, it became a weapon of
war.”-What does it mean by this? How could it help win battles?
5. Was
this done more to help win the war, or more because of Lincoln’s sympathy
towards slaves?

Oct 2-We played the game from last friday but this time we looked at it from a Civil Rights aspect. At times lines in districts have been drawn to try to eliminate certain people groups from having fair representation in Congress. Champions were given extra credit.

After notes students took up certain issues while playing the role of a Republican or Democrat from California or Texas. For each of the issues would they be partisan, a Trustee or a Delegate.
Oct 5-We looked in class at the difference between strict and loose construction and how Congress can use implied powers to go beyond what was possibly first intended.
