You are going to be looking at two conflicts and comparing how they went for America. They are the Korean War and The Bay of Pigs. You can do solo or with one partner.

Divide a paper in half. On both sides you will be comparing these two events. Answer the following for each. Korean War 611-615 Bay of Pigs 673-674

1. When was this? Who was involved? How did America get involved?

2. How was the idea of containment involved in the conflict?

3. What happened during the conflict?

4. What was the result of the conflict?

5. Would you consider it a success for America? Why?

6. What went wrong in both of these incidents?

7. In a small sense the Korean War will lead to the Vietnam War and the Bay of Pigs will lead to the Cuban Missile Crisis. Do you think America should of stayed out of either or these, or was it worth trying? Why?

8. For Korean War-What took place between Macarthur and Truman and why do you think Truman disagreed with his general?

For Bay of Pigs-Look at page 675-Why do you think we cared so much about Cuba?

9. Why do you think both of these incidents are rarely discussed? Korean War is called The Forgotten War and I am guessing you have never heard of the Bay of Pigs before today.

10. Draw one picture showing how these events play a part in America’s role in the postwar world
