10/23-11/3

US History-
10/23-Finished discussing sharecropping and the end of the Reconstruction and it's amendments
10/24-Unit 2 Test
10/25-Finished Unit 2 Test and written district assessment
10/26-We began Unit 2-The Gilded Age. Students did a handout about why it reflects this time. We finished by watching part of The Men who Build America(there was a video guide to accompany it)
10/27-We continued on looking at the Industrial Age by looking at how Andrew Carnegie and other businessmen were captains of industry or robber barons. There were examples of how they did good and bad things. We finished by watching a little more of the video from yesterday
10/30-We looked in class at how Carnegie was able to create so much wealth. vertical integration and horizonatal integration helped make Monopolies and there businesses huge
10/31-We finished our video and had a writing assginment on Rockefeller
11/1-Parent Teacher Conferences
11/2-It was a short day. We talked about the other side of Carnegie's wealth by looking at the Homestead strike and reading how workers tried to stand up to Carnegie.
11/3-We looked at the homestead strike and compared two different versions of the same strike on History Channel. Students finished class by looking at another strike, this one the Pullman strike and compared how two newspapers covered the event. We also had one slide of notes on social darwinism

11/3-We had a quickwrite and a brief note on the spoils or patronage system. We finished with 2 other presidents
